INTER EDGED OUT

Inter Milan almost have no possibility of getting back into the Europa league after suffering a 3-0 defeat against Tottenham in the first leg according to the defender Cristian Chivu. Inter Milan were paired alongside the English club Tottenham in the last 16 stage of the competition.

Tottenham have been one of the inform team’s over the last few weeks, and they demonstrated their superior advantage by managing a 3-0 win. This victory almost puts them in the quarter-finals of the competition, while almost eliminating the Italian club. Even though the Inter Milan manager Andrea Stramaccioni has spoken with confidence that they can turn around the deficit, Chivu reckons that it is almost an impossible task.

Gareth Bale, Jan Vertonghen, and Gylfi Sigurdsson were the scorers on the night for Tottenham, whose great form is seeing a wave of betting on them taking one of the top four spots in the Premier League.

Chivu has said that it is an extremely difficult task to play against a team that are playing with a lot of intensity. He has also lamented the fact that Inter Milan were not able to score an away goal, which could have given them a chance in the second leg that will take place at the San Siro. Even though the team has a week to prepare for the second leg, Chivu reckons that it is almost impossible to think about recovering from this position.

“It’s quite difficult to play against a team that put [in that much] intensity and strength. When you score an away goal it’s important. It’s difficult now in this situation but there’s still one more game to play and anything can happen, but it’s very difficult for us to qualify. We have a week to prepare and we’ll see but when you lose 3-0 it’s almost impossible to get back,” said Chivu. Inter will face Bologna in the Italian Serie A during the weekend.
