Antonio Conte comments on Inter Milan’s Scudetto prospects

Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte has happened to dismiss the club’s title prospects by stating that both Juventus and Napoli are better than them. The Nerazzurri started the season on a strong note with six victories on the bounce but their winning streak was halted with a defeat to Juventus before the international break.

In an interview covered by Tuttosport, Conte said that the Nerazzurri fans need to be realistic over the ambitions and both Juventus and Napoli are better equipped to compete for the title, he told: “I think believing costs nothing for Inter fans, Napoli and other teams. Then you have to be objective and to look at reality.

“I expressed myself from the beginning, compared to us there are two teams, Juventus at the top and then also Naples, which they built more over the years. This gap is there, but we have started a type of journey through work and seriousness to progress over time and become competitive to give satisfaction to the fans. From this point of view, we must be courageous having a clear vision of the present.”

Juventus are currently at the top of the league standings with a one-point gap over Antonio Conte’s side. On the other hand, Napoli have not quite made the desired beginning to the campaign and they are currently fourth on the table with a five-point deficit to the Nerazzurri. As such, it is quite clear that the Nerazzurri are the team ideally suited to end the Bianconeri’s Serie A dominance but Conte does not want to put pressure on the squad with the title talk.

Inter return from the international break with an away game at Sassuolo. Sassuolo have proved a bogey club for the Nerazzurri over the past few seasons and they have managed just one point from the previous five league meetings. They can’t afford another slip-up, considering Juventus are strong favourites to beat Bologna on their home patch.
