CHIVU DELIGHTED HE DIDN’T FACE DUO

Inter Milan legend Cristian Chivu is delighted that he didn’t face the attacking duo of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez during his playing career. The former Romanian international built a career for himself as an efficient left-back who can also play comfortably at centreback. Cristian Chivu talked about the Inter Milan strikeforce of Belgian international Lukaku and Argentine national team player Martinez while speaking to the club’s official TV station.

Cristian Chivu praised the impact of the two attackers in the last two seasons as he revealed that defenders must have a nightmare in dealing with the two players. He expressed his delight that he didn’t cross paths with the two attackers during his playing career which ended in 2014.

According to him, one is good at attacking spaces, while the other player is good in the one-on-one situations.Cristian Chivu spoke to the Inter Milan TV shortly before the huge Champions League final group game with Shakthar Donetsk FC of Ukraine in Group B on Wednesday night. The attacking duo of Martinez and Lukaku failed to fire the Nerazzuri to the win needed to secure a place in the knockout stage.

Inter were forced to a goalless draw which ensured that their opponents took the available Europa League spot for third place, while Inter managed with the fourth and last position on the table. Group B winners Real Madrid and second-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach were the qualifiers for the knockout stage from Group B.

A win for Inter Milan would have taken them into the knockout stage ahead of Borussia Moenchengladbach. The Nerazurri were close to getting that win only for the goalboundshot from Alexis Sanchez to hit Romelu Lukaku on its way to the back of the net.

Cristian Chivu is an Inter Milan legend as part of the treble winning squad of 2010 under Jose Mourinho. He was at Inter Milan from 2007 till 2014 when he retired. Chivu is now a youth team coach at Inter Milan.
